Fun, but getting way too expensive!

The game is fun to play, but is getting way way expensive to play. When I finally realized how much I had spent, I cried. You are programmed to lose. I have played so much that I have built up gold, food and building resources, but they NEVER let you use these to buy chargers, energy, bonuses or gems!! Why is that? It would at least reward people that play the game more than once or twice a week. Get a clue!
